In Course Examinations
Regular study and following the classes are indispensable for passing through the vast curriculum of the MBBS course. To conform to the need of the course and achieving high standard regular periodic class tests, assignments, item, card final and term final examinations are conducted by each department. The card final and term final examinations try to mimic the university conducted professional examinations (discussed below).
10% of the marks of written examination of each paper of each subject in the professional examinations are allocated to the scores obtained from in-course evaluations and class attendants.
Only those students, who would acquire at least 60% marks in the in-course evaluations and attend a minimum of 75% of the classes, are allowed to sit in the professional examinations.
Common Rules for Examinations:-
All Professional MBBS Examinations conducted by Dhaka University will be held in May and November of each year.
- All Professional MBBS Examinations will be completed within the specified time of the concerned phase.
- After passing all the subjects of First Professional MBBS Examination, students can appear in Second Professional MBBS Examination if all other prerequisites for appearing in Second Professional Examination are fulfilled as per curriculum. Only the students who appeared in First Professional MBBS Examination will be eligible to attend all classes of 2nd phase including clinical ward placement. They should report within 02(Two) weeks of completion of First Professional MBBS Examination.
- To appear in Third Professional MBBS Examination, students will have to pass all the subjects of the Second Professional MBBS Examination and all other prerequisites for appearing in Third Professional MBBS Examination must be fulfilled as per curriculum.
- i) To appear in Fourth (Final) Professional MBBS Examination, students will have to pass all the subjects of the Third Professional MBBS Examination must be fulfilled as per curriculum.
ii) A student must attend/complete at least 12 months of final year classes and ward placement (stating from the date of passing all subjects of 3rd Professional MBBS Examination) to become eligible to sit for the Final Professional MBBS Examination. This is to ensure sufficient clinical skills to become a competent doctor.
After passing final Professional MBBS Examination students have to enroll for one year logbook based rotatory internship programme. Within this one year they will be placed at medical college hospital for 11 months and 15 days and for another 15 days at Upazilla Health Complex (UHC). Internship programme will be structured and supervised. It is compulsory to complete Internship Training Programme designed by BM&DC to get permanent registration for doing independent practice.
